Brain scan £650

Do I need a brain scan?

You may consider a CT brain scan if you suffer from one of the following:

  • Prolonged headaches
  • Unexplained symptoms following head injury
  • Recent stroke
  • Unexplained personality change
  • Recurrent falls caused by multiple mini strokes
  • Are unable to have an MRI brain scan

Some conditions, such as small areas of ischaemia or multiple sclerosis, may be better imaged using MRI rather then CT. We will be happy to advise you which is the most appropriate scan.

Do I need to prepare for the scan?

You will need to fast (no food, but plenty of water) for 6 hours before you come to the centre for a brain scan.

The actual time you spend in the scanner is about 10-15 minutes. Further details can be found in the Your Visit section.
