![]() ![]() Brain scan £650Do I need a brain scan?You may consider a CT brain scan if you suffer from one of the following:
Some conditions, such as small areas of ischaemia or multiple sclerosis, may be better imaged using MRI rather then CT. We will be happy to advise you which is the most appropriate scan. Do I need to prepare for the scan?You will need to fast (no food, but plenty of water) for 6 hours before you come to the centre for a brain scan. The actual time you spend in the scanner is about 10-15 minutes. Further details can be found in the Your Visit section.
During a BMD scan we image your hip bones and lumbar vertebrae. The level of x-ray absorption gives an accurate indication of the density of your bones. Using this information we can calculate your individual bone density measurements and hence estimate your risk of osteoporosis. Do I need to prepare for the scan?No preparation is needed for the BMD scan although you will be asked to change into a gown beforehand.The actual time you spend in the scanner is about 10 minutes.
